Artist Bio

Shartra Sylivant is originally from Georgia although she has mostly lived in North Carolina – Kinston, Greenville, and Wilson.   

She enjoyed doing pencil drawings as a child but only recently started working with other mediums after she retired. After working in her family's hardware business, she worked for thirty years as a clinical psychologist.  

Shartra makes jewelry, such as bracelets of tiny woven glass beads. She also enjoys doing landscapes and animals with alcohol markers, watercolors, and acrylics.  

Another joy is outdoor activities, such as horse riding, kayaking, hiking, and gardening. She has two horses and three cats.  

She and her husband love to travel which has brought them to China, Eastern Europe, the Caribbean, Central Mexico, and Africa. Travel photography is one of her favorite pastimes.
