Artist Statement

I am a “self-directed” artist having spent most of my life learning the elements and principles of art and putting them into use. As a youngster, I admired the works of Norman Rockwell and other well-known respected artists of that era and sought to emulate, always working to develop and master the skills of producing works that would lead me to a profession in commercial art. I enjoyed over forty years in advertising and it fueled my love of fine art painting.

Being comfortable with acrylics, watercolor and oils, I have been teaching the same for years in my studio, at the local community college, and workshop venues since 1998. My favorite subjects are land and seascapes although I am attracted to a bevy of other subjects because of the challenges they offer.

My personal statement is, “while the talent is God given, desire, determination, and perseverance are the keys to success. Art is a passion to be pursued and a pleasure to be enjoyed.”
